IITA is actively recruiting for the position below.
Role Title: Research Technician III
Location: Kano State.
Role Responsibilities:
- Oversee the Farmer participatory varietal selection (FPVS) and gender inclusive processes.
- Responsible for facilitating the registration of farmer groups as community-based seed producers in Collaboration with Nigerian-based PO4 Leaders of the AVISA Project.
- Contributing to the adequate formulation of lessons from project and program implementation.
- Responsible for the checking and interpretation of datasets during and after surveys.
- Responsible for the development and interpretation of case and success stories from project and program implementation.
- Leading pre-survey activities particularly the identification and hiring of enumerators, organization of pre-survey trainings, identification of field-based facilitators for surveys, etc
- Contributing to the contextualization of data collection tools (Questionnaires, Topical Outlines) to the Nigerian (Hausa) situation.
- Expected to link up and entertains contacts with survey teams with State-based facilitators and other partners during data and information collection.
- Preparation of appropriate logistics (cross-checking functioning of electronic devices for surveys, questionnaires for pre-test and during pre-survey trainings, etc.)
- Participating in the collection of data for the development of case studies and success stories during project implementation.
- Carryout the development of AVISA M&E and other reports of activities being implemented in Nigeria.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of a National Diploma in Agriculture or any other Business-related discipline.
- Sound verbal and written command of the Hausa and English languages.
- Excellent knowledge of the states and Local Government Areas of the 19 northern states of Nigerian.
- Candidate must be able to work across discipline and within multi-cultural environments.
- Competence in the use of Microsoft Word and related applications notably Excel and PowerPoint.
- Candidate must have a valid Nigerian driving license.
- Minimum of five years’ experience performing similar or same role with an international research for development organization based in the northern state.
