The First Female Bank MD After Thirty-Six (36) years.

Ireti Samuel-Ogbu has been appointed the MD/CEO of Citi Bank Nigeria Limited. This makes her the very first woman to occupy such position after thirty-six (36) years of the banks’ operating in Africa’s largest economy.

Before her appointment, in the last five years, she has served as the Managing Director of payments and receivables treasury and trade solutions for Europe, Middle East and Africa at the lender’s office in London; this is according to her LinkedIn profile.

She is expected to takeover on the 1st of September 2020 from Akin Dawodu who is now positioned to oversee their cluster head for sub-Saharan Africa in November 2020.

Interestingly, this makes it the second appointment of a female Bank Executive in a space of two months. This is coming following the appointment of Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe as the CEO at Fidelity Bank Plc

Ireti Samuel-Ogbu has a ‘’talented and experienced team in Nigeria’’ and will assist institutional clients in the country by plugging into Citigroup’s regional and global reach, the company said. #Citigroup has offices in 11 countries in the #African soil.

Congratulations to you Ireti Samuel-Ogbu. More women are taking leadership position and this strongly encouraged.
