Head of Connectivity and Access Public Policy Job at Facebook (Remote work)

Role Title: Head of Connectivity and Access Public Policy

Location: Remote, Nigeria.



Role Responsibilities:

  • Representing Facebook in meetings with key stakeholders across Africa, including bilateral and multilateral fora
  • Contributing to research that supports evidence-based ICT policy development
  • Representing Facebook in all media, including on screen, radio and print
  • Supporting the development of Facebook’s connectivity policy positions
  • Providing policy and regulatory guidance to Facebook teams working on connectivity infrastructure projects in Africa
  • Advising Facebook teams on public policy matters in order to guide the development and roll-out of products, services and infrastructure
  • Developing and sustain effective working relationships with African policymakers, as well as representatives of the private sector, CSOs, academia and development institutions
  • Monitoring connectivity policy issues affecting Facebook at the Africa regional and country levels
  • Leading the development of Facebook's submissions to African governments’ consultations related to connectivity policy, legislation and regulation

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Fluency in an African language e.g. Kiswahili, Hausa, Pidgin, Wolof, Xhosa, Yoruba, Kenyang, Lingala, Shona, Twi, Ga
  • Bachelor’s degree in law, Development Studies, Economics, Public Policy, Technology, Engineering or a related field
  • Minimum of Eight years of public policy experience in the field of Information Communications Technology (ICT)
  • Fluency in both written and conversational English
  • Demonstrated knowledge of MSME Financing, Risk Sharing and Social Impact Knowledge.
  • Previous experience working and/or living in multiple African countries
  • Excellent judgment, communication and persuasive skills, creativity, perspective, and passion
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a dynamic environment
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills is desired.
  • In-depth knowledge of public policy issues related to ICT Infrastructure development
  • Superb written and oral communications skills (writing samples required)

Role Responsibilities:

  • Support the CEO/MD to drive the achievement of the organisation’s strategic agenda of alleviating the financing constraints faced by Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (MSMEs) in Nigeria.
  • Driving effective stakeholder engagement, regulatory compliance, operational excellence and strategy implementation through the tactical operations of the business.
  • Support the CEO/MD in the implementation of strategies around fund raising, business development, strategic partnership development, loan disbursement excellence etc.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Applicant should possess a minimum of first degree or its equivalent in any relevant field.
  • Hold a postgraduate or professional qualifications or certifications such as ACIB, ICAN, MBA etc.
  • Have a minimum of fifteen years progressive work experience.
  • Minimum of ten years cognate experience in the banking sector.
  • A minimum of eight years relevant work experience as top or senior management officer.
  • Previous experience in commercial banking and development finance or social impact is desirable
  • Vast knowledge of the Nigerian Banking Sector.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of MSME Financing, Risk Sharing and Social Impact Knowledge.
