Role Title: Senior Health Manager

Location: Maiduguri, Borno State.



Role Responsibilities:

 

  • The Senior Health Manager will lead the implementation of health program in the assigned LGAs and establish effective working relationship with government counterparts at State Primary Health Care Development Agency (SPHCDA), Hospital Management Board and Local Government offices.
  • You will develop health program work plans with Health Managers and monitor and supervise the Health Managers in the implementation of health program in the targeted LGAs;
  • In collaboration with M & E sector, you will set high quality performance indicators, ensuring adherence to technical standards, best practices and donor guidelines.
  • You will seek out and nurture quality partnership with other implementing partners, local organizations and community structure.
  • You will foster inter program linkages, exchange of information and experiences and contribute actively to protection mainstreaming in the health program.
  • You will collaborate with other sectors such as nutrition, WASH, women protection and empowerment, Child protection to ensure holistic service is available in response to needs.
  • In coordination with Assistant Health Coordinator, you will identify opportunities, formulate health program goals, objectives and intervention strategies.
  • You will contribute to planning, design, planning and drafting of new proposal.
  • You will ensure project activities are implemented according to the work-plan and within the allocated budgets.
  • You will prepare weekly work – plans with the health teams.
  • You will ensure adherence to budgets by reviewing expenditures and spending patterns.
  • You will recommend grant and budget revisions to the Assistant Health Coordinator.
  • You will provide recommendations and interventions to correct any identified deviations that impact budget adherence.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Master's degree in Public Health would be an added advantage, however not required,
  • Three years of work experience in health system strengthening and health programs both at clinical and community-based programs, working in maternal and child health, drugs and medical supplies management and other primary Health care components is deisrable
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time, travelling frequently and working in different locations
  • Demonstrated grants and program management experience, preferably health related,
  • Demonstrated experience working with multiple partners and stakeholders,
  • Possess excellent report writing skills,
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills,
  • Possess excellent budget management skills,
  • Possess excellent thorough knowledge and understanding Health Policy of Nigeria,
  • Previous experience working in Northern Nigeria, willingness to work in Northern Nigeria,
  • Possess excellent in delivering MCH and related trainings to health staff using national or WHO guidelines,
  • Should be able to coach, mentor and develop technical capacity in programs management and technical staff in Quality Improvement

Role Title: Deputy Director of Programmes

Location: Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.



Role Responsibilities

  • The Deputy Director of Programs (DDP) is a member of the senior management team (SMT) (along with the Deputy Director of Operations (DDO), Deputy Director of Field Management (DDFM) and Financial Controller (FC)).
  • The DDP is responsible for leading and managing the program sectors, grant management, M&E and Consortia teams in the Country Program. The DDP is expected to contribute to high levels of teamwork and inter-departmental and cross-sectoral collaboration. 
  • Through the DDPs leadership the IRC Nigeria country program will develop and implement high quality programs based on the principles of results, data-driven analysis, problem identification and problem solving.
  • The DDP will also be the focal point for strategy development, review and monitoring. The position is based in Abuja with frequent travel to all field locations.
  • The DDP is to ensure the highest level of quality in program design through robust and in-depth context analysis, development of theories of change and sector level strategies. Through rigorous M&E processes and results-based management ensure periodic and systematic learning is informing program design and adaptation.
  • In partnership with the DDFM, the DDP is to ensure efficient and effective delivery of program commitments through overseeing the development and implementation of tools such as procurement plans, budget versus actual reports, work plans etc.
  • The DDP will oversee appropriate technical assistance for all sectors ensuring that programs are reaching a high quality through use of best practice, evidence base and up-to-the-minute learning.
  • In conjunction with the CD and DDFM, the DDP is to ensure that the IRC is effectively represented in relevant coordination fora and networks and with relevant stakeholders. This representation should aim to bring to bear IRC’s learning and experience to improve the overall humanitarian and development response in Nigeria.
  • The DDP is to drive an advocacy strategy that advances the strategic aims of the country program.
  • The DDP is to ensure that the IRC has an appropriate range of communication products to highlight the work of the country program to various audiences.

Required Qualifications:

  • Seven years of international experience with two years of experience in the management of emergency, post-conflict and development programs.
  • A graduate degree holder in relevant field
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in program design and delivery, including proposal development
  • Proven capacity in staff management, multi-tasking, time management and diplomacy.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Innovative and creative problem solver
  • Team player, with experience working with multi-cultural teams.
