Medecins du Monde (MdM) has been active in Nigeria since August 2016 in the fields of primary healthcare (PHC), nutrition, gender-based violence (GBV) and mental health and psychosocial services (MHPSS). MdM objectives is to respond to the emergency caused by the violent armed conflict in the North-eastern region of Nigeria.

Role Title: Deputy General Coordinator in Charge of Programs

Location: Maiduguri, Borno State.




Role Responsibilities:

 

  • Monitoring of the expenditure and budget compliance on a regular basis, reporting any concerns to the general coordinator and developing plans to mitigate any under or over expenditure at project level
  • Ensuring quality and timely program implementation
  • Monitoring of the humanitarian situation in Borno and in other areas of interest in Nigeria in collaboration with the medical team
  • Leading the development of the general strategy on MdM medical activities
  • Providing monthly updates on the humanitarian situation
  • Ensure that the different components of the program are consistent and perfectly integrated and in link with population needs
  • Regularly inform the general coordinator about any specific situation in Borno which could lead to an MdM response or adjustment of the operational approach
  • Supporting the team in the identification of partners, development of healthy partnership, and in the capacity building
  • Suggesting new assessments and new programmatic developments to adjust program portfolio to existing needs
  • Coordinating the organization of ad hoc need assessment as well as the deployment of the emergency response team, in the event of any deterioration of the humanitarian situation.
  • Supporting the pharma team for availability of quality drugs online with activities implemented in all component of the project
  • Supporting the general coordinator in the development and rolling out of the mission strategy based on prior needs analysis, actors mapping, gap analysis and understanding of MdM programmatic added value and mandate
  • Accurate budget control and overall responsibility for financial management of the program
  • Responsible for ensuring regular communications are maintained between the different staff and departments involved in the program and act as a mediator when necessary.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Hold relevant qualification in Medical or Public Health.
  • Applicant must be experienced with program coordination
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a similar role.
  • Experience with working with an international NGO working in emergency contexts, managing programmes, preferably within the health sector
  • Proven experience of project planning and budget holding; proposal and report writing
  • Understanding or knowledge of the region and their culture.
  • Knowledge and understanding of project management tools (logical framework analysis, project cycle management, objectives and indicators etc.)
  • Sound leadership skills and a supportive management style
  • Previous experience managing national and expatriate staff
  • Strong understanding of oral and written English, French and Hausa languages is a plus

Role Title: Midwife in Damboa

Location: Damboa, Borno State.




Role Responsibilities:

 

  • Filling in the reproductive health form for each patient
  • Responsible for ensuring patient confidentiality is respected and treat all the patients with respect and dignity
  • Giving suggestions that will improve the functioning of MDM mobile clinics
  • Preparation of all the material and equipment and ensure that everything is ready before starting the activities
  • Following the basic medical rules of hygiene when performing reproductive health consultations
  • Performing postnatal consultations during the six weeks following the delivery, give appropriate treatment and refers to female medical doctor when needed.
  • You will be required to participate in the loading and unloading of the vehicles and to the setting up of the mobile clinics
  • Performing family planning consultations and counseling according to protocol
  • Responsible for giving systematic prophylactic treatments to pregnant women
  • Referring to the female medical doctor all pregnant women with a pathology associated to the pregnancy
  • Be flexible in performing your duties to ensure that beneficiaries are getting good quality services
  • Management of RH emergency cases with the assistance of the medical doctor according to MdM protocols and regulation
  • You would be required to participate actively in triage activities before to start reproductive health consultations
  • Performing antenatal consultations according to the protocols, detect and mention all the risk factors
  • You are to inform the security focal point immediately in case of any security problem in the field
  • Verifying the tetanus vaccination of each pregnant woman
  • Explaining in details the treatment to the patient 

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Possess a diploma in Midwifery with a valid license from the Nursing or Midwifery board.
  • Two years post qualifying experience in a related context
  • Competence in the use of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Power Point Presentation etc
  • Managing effectively your own time and be flexible and available to work overtime when needed
  • Must possess a valid practicing certificate.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team-building skills and excellence as a team player.
  • Ability to learn with speed and ease.
  • Willingness to be deployed to the newly liberated local government areas.
  • Candidate with a background in Emergency handling will have an advantage.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English, Kanuri and Hausa Languages will give you an edge.
