Midwife vacancy at Medecins du Monde (MdM)

 

 

Medecins du Monde (MdM) is a leading international non-governmental organization, with the mission to treat the most vulnerable populations in crisis and exclusion situations around the world. Medecins du Monde (MdM) has been active in Nigeria since August 2016 in the fields of primary healthcare (PHC), nutrition, gender-based violence (GBV) and mental health and psychosocial services (MHPSS). MdM objectives is to respond to the emergency caused by the violent armed conflict in the North-eastern region of Nigeria.

Medecins du Monde (MdM) is actively recruiting for the position below.

 

Role Title: Midwife

Location: Maiduguri, Borno State.




Role Responsibilities:

  • Filling in the reproductive health form for each patient
  • Responsible for ensuring patient confidentiality is respected and treat all the patients with respect and dignity
  • Preparation of all the material and equipment and ensure that everything is ready before starting the activities
  • Following the basic medical rules of hygiene when performing reproductive health consultations
  • Performing postnatal consultations during the six weeks following the delivery, give appropriate treatment and refers to female medical doctor when needed.
  • Performing family planning consultations and counseling according to protocol
  • Responsible for giving systematic prophylactic treatments to pregnant women
  • Referring to the female medical doctor all pregnant women with a pathology associated to the pregnancy
  • Management of RH emergency cases with the assistance of the medical doctor according to MdM protocols and regulation
  • You would be required to participate actively in triage activities before to start reproductive health consultations
  • Performing antenatal consultations according to the protocols, detect and mention all the risk factors
  • Verifying the tetanus vaccination of each pregnant woman
  • Explaining in details the treatment to the patient

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Possess a diploma in Midwifery with a valid license from the Nursing or Midwifery board.
  • Minimum of two years post qualifying experience in a related context
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Power Point Presentation etc
  • Ability to manage effectively your own time and be flexible and available to work overtime when needed
  • Candidate must possess a valid practicing certificate.
  • Strong interpersonal and team-building skills and excellence as a team player.
  • Must possess the ability to learn with speed and ease.
  • Must be willing to be deployed to the newly liberated local government areas.
  • Applicant with a background in Emergency handling is a plus.
  • Excellent knowledge of English, Kanuri and Hausa Languages will give you an edge.

Role Title: External Facilitator for Clinical Supervision

Location: Maiduguri, Borno State.




Role Responsibilities:

 

  • Providing enabling opportunity to the team members to reflect, analyze and share their practice.
  • Providing a safe environment for self and peer evaluation
  • You would be responsible for providing support to team members (social workers) through group process
  • Required to reinforce theory and practice.
  • Support the team members to deal with personal and work-related stress.
  • Building more on assessment and session note writing skills of the team for improved quality intervention

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Master's degree in Social Works, Psychology, Counselling or any other similar course
  • Seven years of developing and delivering Sexual and Gender Based Violence clinical supervision work experience
  • Possess sound understanding and the ability to apply concepts of adult learning to build the capacity of GBV programme personnel.
  • Must have and show the ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving to create innovative GBV programming, and critically analyzing context, trends and vulnerabilities related to GBV.
  • Excellent understanding of critical issues including ethics about GBV case management.
  • Proven ability to facilitate a collaborative environment to promote effective coordination.
